Leaf Collection - 2021

On Thursday, November 4, Leaf trucks will complete the Tuesday trash section and begin the Wednesday section.  The leaf trucks have completed the Monday trash section in Round 1.  Check the leaf map to see the streets recently completed: leaf map 11-3-2021

Please remember:
  Borough of Haddonfield Ordiance 195-9 prohibits placing leaves and yard waste in the street.  The homeowner is responsible for telling landscaping services NOT to PUT LEAVES IN THE STREET!
The Clean Communities/Enforcement Officer will be writing tickets.  There is a $50.00 fine for the first offense.  Leaves in the street block storm drain and can also become road hazards.

The Commissioners decided at the last meeting that there will be no more in person public meetings at Borough Hall for the foreseeable future; all commissions, committees, and boards will meet virtually.  Links to the meetings may be found on the Calendar as well as the Online Meeting section of our website.  We will notify you of any changes to this policy.

UPDATE - Holiday Collection Schedule July 5 to 10

UPDATE:  Regarding the Holiday Collection Schedule below, Waste Management encountered an issue which has impacted household trash collection.  They anticipate completing the Wednesday route on Friday, and have informed the Borough that routes typically scheduled for trash collection on Thursday and Friday will be serviced by end of day on Saturday.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  Please leave your uncollected trash out for pick up.

Memorial Day Holiday Collection Schedule

For the Memorial Day holiday week of May 31, 2021 the collection schedule will be as follows:
Trash:  Waste Management will collect trash in each route one day behind schedule, i.e. Monday's route will be collected on Tuesday 6/1/21 and finish with the Friday route being collected on Saturday 6/5/21.
Recycling:  Monday and Tuesday recycling routes will be collected on Tues. 6/1/21.  Remainder of the week will be on schedule.
Veg Debris:  Monday veg route will be collected on Tues. 6/1/2021.  Tuesday and Wed. routes will be collected on Wed. 6/2/21.  Remainder of the week will be on schedule.

Chipper Truck is scheduled next for the week of June 21, on trash day.  Remember - branches should be placed on the curb - untied - in lengths of 4 foot or more.  No need to cut branches into small lengths

Vote by Mail Ballot Correction

DO NOT TAKE A MAIL IN BALLOT TO THE POLL ON ELECTION DAY.
The April 30th edition of Haddonfield Today posted incorrect information notifying voters that they may take mail in ballots to the polls on election day and turn them in at the poll; this is INCORRECT. Mail in ballots must be mailed (postmark no later than May 11), dropped in a secure Camden County drop box, or hand delivered to the Board of Elections office in Blackwood.  Please click HERE for the full correction.

MAY 11TH ELECTION - SAMPLE BALLOT ISSUES


We have been informed by the Camden County Clerk’s Office of a coding error in the printing of the Sample Ballots for the May 11th municipal election, which our residents have begun receiving today.  This issue is being corrected and residents will be receiving a postcard from the County Clerk’s Office providing the correct information on your voting/polling location.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
 that, as directed by the Honorable Nan S. Famular, Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Camden County, in her "Order Denying Motion to Vacate Ordinance 2018-01 Without Prejudice and Remanding to Borough for Further Proceedings" dated as of April 1, 2021, the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Haddonfield (the "Borough") will hold a Public Hearing at its regularly scheduled public meeting on April 27, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. to be conducted via Zoom, a video and teleconferencing service, regarding Ordinance 2018-01 of the Borough, at which the Borough Commissioners shall place on the record their specific reasons for approving the "Bancroft Redevelopment Plan", as amended January 16, 2018, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:12A-7(d) and (e).

Spring is Here

The Office of the Fire Marshal would like to remind everyone of a few safety precautions while doing your spring cleaning.

  • Properly dispose of any old unwanted Hazardous waste, such as paints, thinners, harsh cleaners, etc. For a list of hazardous materials, and drop off locations, visit camdencounty.com/parks, or call 856-858-5241.
  • Replace old or warn and frayed extension cords.
  • Keep gasoline containers in the garage or shed, never inside the house.
  • A fire safety permit is required for the use of any flame producing device for removing paint.
  • Use caution when using paint thinners as they are extremely flammable. Use only in well ventilated areas.
  • Be sure to shut off any gasoline power tools before refueling.
  • Check the gas grill prior to use, replace any damaged parts, check the gas line for wear or cracks, and make sure all connections are tight and not leaking.
  • Use grilling equipment at least 10 feet from the house or structure, and never inside.
  • Be sure to have at least one working smoke alarm on every level of the home, and change the batteries at least twice a year.
  • Be sure to have at least one working carbon monoxide alarm within 10 ft. of any sleeping area.
  • Have at least one working ABC type fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
  • Be sure your address is posted and visible from the street.

Spring Clean-up

Spring Clean-Up Continues! Spring Leaf Pickup will occur during the weeks of 4/12 and 4/26. Place your piled leaves on your park strip for the leaf machine - remember, don't place the piles in the street.  Also the Chipper will be out again the week of 4/19.

From Monday, April 5, 2021 and ending Friday, April 30, 2021, the 6 piece per residence limit for household trash pickup is also relaxed and residents are encouraged to clean out attics, basements, garages, and yards. All items placed curbside must meet the requirements for proper placement of trash, which includes placing appropriate items in cans or bags, or cutting wood to 4 ft. lengths and placing in bundles under 50 lbs. 
 
Upon completion of this four week period, the normal regulations regarding trash and brush removal will be reinstated.

Free Rabies Clinic

On April 24, 2021 from 10:00am to 12:00pm Haddonfield will hold a free rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs in the back parking lot of Borough Hall.  This clinic is open to all Camden County residents.  Please wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing.

President's Day Trash/Recycle/Chipper Schedules

Trash, recycling, & chipping will be as follows due to President's Day holiday:

Monday Feb. 15: Trash collection on schedule, recycle collection postponed.
Tuesday, Feb. 16: Trash collection on schedule, recycle collection for Monday and Tuesday routes.
Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 17 to 19:  trash and recycling on schedule.

Chipper week is Feb. 15
; due to the holiday this may be slightly delayed as Public Works will be closed for the holiday.  Place any items for chipping out on your trash day to ensure they are not missed.  If placing Christmas tree for pickup, remember to remove all decorations, lights and tree stand.

Any changes will be posted here and/or on the Borough's Facebook page.  Please check in the event of inclement weather.

Feb. 2nd UPDATE - Trash & Recycle Collection and Borough Hall Closed

Trash Collection for the Week of February 1st:

- Wed., Feb. 3rd - will pick up the Monday and Tuesday routes
- Thurs., Feb. 4th - will pick up the Wednesday and Thursday routes
- Friday, Feb. 5th - will pick up the Friday route

There will be two trucks out for pick up on Wednesday and Thursday, and one on Friday with the ability to add a second truck if necessary.

Recycling is being collected on the regular scheduled day.  

Additionally, Borough Hall will be closed today (2/2/21) due to the weather.

Human Relations Commission Names Winners of MLK Essay Contest

Each year the HRC commemorates the work of Martin Luther King by honoring young people throughout the Borough for their written and artistic submissions on themes illuminating the struggle for equality and dignity for all.  The essays are located on the Human Relations Commission's page.

Update on HERD Lawsuit

On January 22, 2021, the lawsuit filed by several residents to vacate Ordinance 2018-012 amending the Bancroft Redevelopment Plan was reinstated.  This lawsuit alleges that there was a flaw in the procedure for adopting the amendment, which the Borough denies.  A hearing is currently scheduled for March 3, 2021.

LEAF COLLECTION 2020

Leaf Season has been completed!  On Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, the remaining streets in the Friday trash section were finished.  Leaf collection has now been completed in all sections for round 3.  Any remaining leaves that might be on trees, or still in yards, can be either left until the leaf trucks return in April during Spring Clean-up, or placed in your veg cans or brown paper bags for collection during veg week.  Next veg collection is the week of Feb. 1. on trash day.

CHIPPER/CHRISTMAS TREE PICKUP

On Tuesday Jan. 19, 2021, the chipper will be out to start chipping Christmas trees and any brush placed loose at the curb.  Remember to remove all decorations, lights, tree stands and tree bags from Christmas trees before placing to the curb.  Decorated trees cannot be chipped.  The Public Works Department will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2021 for the Martin Luther King holiday.
