Shade Tree Commission Meeting Minutes: January 19, 2010
Bill Polise opened the meeting at 8:00am by reading the public meeting statement. Notice of this meeting was posted in borough hall and published in the Retrospect. In attendance were: Bill Polise, Jeff Hammon, Robin Potter, Harriett Monshaw, Anne Walters, Marjorie Coar, Ann Koelling, and Mike Comoroto.
Jeff Hammon noted attendance and asked if all of the commissioners had read the December minutes and if there were any additions or corrections. The minutes were passed as written. Welcome to Ann Koelling, Alternate II, congratulations to Anne Walters, now a regular member, and Marjorie Coar, reappointed as a regular member.
Public Comment and Correspondence
Kirk Peterson, 214 Lakeview Ave had various business district planting ideas of which many had already been included in a downtown planting list.
Old Business
2009 CSIP Grant ‘To Do’List Update (Inventory Software): Jeff is waiting for Rob Applegate to approve the user access ‘workaround’ proposed by Davey Tree in order to avoid purchasing more than one software license. Jeff will also check with Joseph Bennett in Trenton to determine the status of the 2009 grant funds.
2008 CSIP Grant ‘To Do’ List Update (Inventory Completion): As a result of a meeting with Deanna Bennett, a formal proposal document is expected for review by the end of the week. The bid notice will be published on the borough website on Friday, January 29th, and the bids will be opened on Thursday February 18 at borough hall.
CFMP Compliance: In order to be in compliance with the state’s tree management program, and our two grants, an ‘Annual Accomplishment Report’ must be filed with the state by February 15, 2010. This report is pending and will be completed by Bill.
2010 Spring Planting: Mike will mark the tree locations this year based upon the master list that Bill will compile. Trees will be tagged at the nursery later this month, then species will be assigned to each location based upon the unique characteristics of both. The last step is to assign extra trees to ‘orphan locations’ based upon the remaining spots on the master list.
Enforcement Action, 107 Reillywood: Bill will follow-up with the Police Department regarding this incident
New Business
Officer Elections pursuant to IAW Borough Code 56-2: Bill was unanimously reappointed to another term as Chairperson, Jeff was unanimously reappointed to another term as Secretary.
