PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET HELD
The public hearing on the Borough’s budget took place Tuesday evening, April 24, during the regular Commissioners meeting. The Commissioners anticipate adopting the budget on Tuesday, May 8 after it is reviewed by the state.

LION’S SIGHT AWARENESS MONTH 
The Commissioners is asking all residents to join them in proclaiming April 2012, Lions Club of Haddonfield Sight Awareness Month. The Lions Club is dedicated to sight preservation and helping the visibly impaired with aid and assistance in their home community. The Club was founded in 1917 and the Haddonfield chapter was established in 1944. It currently has 56 members, who are involved in many activities, including Little League and the Haddonfield Library. Their support goes organizations such as the Delaware Valley Eye Bank, the Camden Eye Center, and the Best Work Industries.

SALARIES – NON-UNION EMPLOYEES
The Commissioners adopted on second reading the ordinance that establishes the wages for 2012 for certain Haddonfield employees, effective the first pay date in April. To review the wage schedule, please visit www.haddonfieldnj.org.

VEHICLES ORDINANCE CORRECTED
The parking ordinance that prohibits parking on certain streets at all times was amended to include the north side of Redman Avenue located between Peyton and Avondale Avenues.

BID AWARDS
The Commissioners awarded bids for the following:

  • to Ivymont Construction Company for emergency sewer main repairs; water and sewer lateral work; and asphalt street patching and miscellaneous concrete replacement;
  • to 4RO Services.com, Inc. for emergency water main repairs;
  • to Diamond Construction, for the 2011 CDGB curb cuts at various locations.

STREET SWEEPING SERVICES BID REJECTED
The Commissioners rejected all bids for Street Sweeping Services, as they exceeded the budgeted amount.

BID AUTHORIZATION FOR REPLACEMENT TRUCK 
The Commissioners authorized to advertise for bids for the Replacement of a Truck Side Load Recycle Body with Rear Load Compactor. The bids are due on or before Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Room 101 of Haddonfield Borough Hall.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT-IN-AID
The Commissioners authorized to apply for the 2012 New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund Certified Local Government Grant-In-Aid for an amount of no more than $25,000. The grant will fund technical revisions and the redrafting of the 2nd Oldest Historic District Ordinance in New Jersey (1971).

UPDATE ON THE MECHANIC STREET AND CLEMENT STREET HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The Commissioners authorized a Grant Agreement with the New Jersey Department of Transportation for the Mechanic Street and Clement Street Historic Preservation and Streetscape Improvement Project. The Borough will maintain the project in perpetuity and provide supplemental funds for the construction cost of the project.

NEW LAW REGARDING FORECLOSURES
A new law is now effect which states that the owner of any non-owner occupied residential property who takes title to the property as the result of a sheriff’s sale or deed in lieu of foreclosure, must notify the municipal clerk within 10 business days and provide their name and address. If you, as the property owner do not reside in New Jersey, then you must designate someone who resides in the state to act on your behalf, and provide their name and address to the municipal clerk in lieu of yours. HAVING MULCH (ETC.) DELIVERED?
Residents and commercial property owners are reminded that dumpling mulch, dirt, sand, etc. on public streets and sidewalks is prohibited and that it is property owners, not landscaping contractors, who much appear in court when citations are issued.

YARD SALES
As the yard sale “season” approaches, the Commissioners remind residents who plan to hold private sales of the need to observe the regulations for yard and garage sales.  They include:

  • Residents are permitted to hold one sale in any six-month period.
  • A permit must be obtained prior to the sale. The cost is $5 and can be obtained at the Borough Hall, in Room 101. The penalty for not obtaining a permit is $10.
  • Signs may be placed only on the property where the sale is taking place.  Signs may not be placed on poles or trees or in the ground in the public right-of-way.

PARTNERSHIP FOR HADDONFIELD 2012 BUDGET INTRODUCED
A public hearing on the Partnership for Haddonfield’s Budget will be held in the Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 102 of the Borough Hall. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their input, thoughts and feedback on the budget.
