Leaf Pickup Over 
Leaf pickup has ended. Under state and local laws, the borough will have to sign complaints against property owners if leaves are raked into the street or within 10 feet of a storm sewer inlet.

Fire Prevention Code Updates
Commissioners approved an ordinance on first reading that updates the borough’s fire prevention code to reflect state statutes and requirements already in place. Residents are reminded that an inspection is required prior to renting or selling a property. The fee is $25 – $50 if application is made less than five days in advance of the inspection.

Raffle Ordinance Approved
Commissioners approved on first reading an ordinance governing raffles in the borough. In addition to setting forth requirements, application guidelines and issuance procedures, the ordinance establishes a $25 application fee.

Fire Gear Purchase
Commissioners authorized the purchase of fire turnout gear from First Due Emergency Supply Company in the amount of $89,612.25, and the purchase of breathing apparatus from Breathe Safe Fire & Safety Equipment Company in the amount of $135,000.

First Night Buttons
Buttons for Haddonfield’s family friendly New Years Eve celebration, First Night, are available at the Information Center or through the borough’s Web site. Regular price is $15, but, if you buy before Dec. 24, cost is only $12. Candlelight Shopping
Commissioners authorized Candlelight Shopping hours on Fridays from 6-9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. through Dec. 24 in the commercial district. Food, carriage rides, luminaria and more will add to the festive occasion, along with a visit from Santa.

Appointments
Commissioners have made the following appointments:?€ˆJack LaMaina-Russell to the District Managment Corporation; Doug McCollister, Joanne Kennedy and Stuart Harting to the Planning Board; John Piotrowski to the Library Board of Trustees; Lois DeAntonio, Kristine Gallemit and Robert Grossman to the Environmental Commission; and Nancy McCrudden to the Senior Citizen Advisory Board.

Shared Court Services
Commissioners have authorized a shared court services agreement with the borough of Audubon. It is anticipated Audubon will approve the measure at its next meeting.

Bids Sought
In anticipation of the coming budget season, commissioners have authorized the advertisement for sealed bids regarding a number of services. Commissioners are seeking to compare the cost of keeping these services in-house or awarding them to a third party.

  • Bids for Recycling Materials Pickup Services are due on or before Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.
  • Bids for Vegetative Waste Materials Pickup Services are due on or before Dec. 30 at 10 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.
  • Bids for Line Painting Services are due on or before Dec. 30 at 10:15 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.
  • Bids for Landscaping Services are due on or before Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.
  • Bids for Temporary Labor – Crossing Guards are due on or before Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.
  • Bids for Snow Removal Services are due on or before Dec. 30 at 11:15 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.

Emergency Pumps Bids
Commissioners have authorized bids for Emergency Pumps for Grove and Elm Streets Pumping Stations. Bids are due on or before Dec. 30 at 10:45 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.

Borough Hall Closed
Borough Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31 in observance of the holidays.

Free Parking About to End
Free parking in the downtown district will come to an end Dec. 26. The meters will be back in operation on Dec. 27.

Board of Health Meeting
Commissioners will hold their Board of Health meeting Jan. 3 in Room 201 of borough hall at 4:30 p.m. to discuss health-related issues.

Meeting Reminders
Residents are reminded that regular Commission meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Room 102 of borough hall. A work session takes place at 7 p.m. prior to each meeting in Room 101.
Work session meetings take place the first and third Mondays of the month. In January, the meetings take place at 5:30 p.m. The meetings take place at 5 p.m., the rest of the year.

Pet Licensing
The deadline for licensing your pets is Jan. 31. After that, a late fee is applied. The forms are available on the borough’s Web site or can be picked up at borough hall, the Information Center, the library or the Mabel Kay Center.

Water Bills Due
Water bills are due to be paid by Dec. 31.

Chipper Out in January
Residents are reminded that the borough’s chipper will be out in January to take care of Christmas trees.
