Snow Removal Reminder
The borough reminds owners, landlords and tenants of business and professional property that borough ordinance requires the removal of all snow and ice from public sidewalks abutting the property within 18 hours after ice forms or the snowfall ends. Parking lots, walkways and other areas used by their customers and employees also are covered under the ordinance.

A big ‘thank you’ for First Night
Commissioners extend their appreciation to the organizers of First Night, the borough’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration, for another successful event.

Borough Hall Closed
Borough Hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 17 in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Pet Licensing Reminder
The deadline for licensing your pets is Jan. 31. After that, a late fee is applied. The forms are available on the borough’s Web site or can be picked up at borough hall, the Information Center, the library or the Mabel Kay Center.

Electronic Recycling
Effective January 2011, all municipalities will be required to pick up electronics waste as a separate pickup for recycling. Therefore, on Jan. 3, the borough will begin picking up the following items on your regular trash day:
15-, 17-, 19- and 21-inch monitors, flat screens and all-in-ones
Televisions (no consoles)
Towers, desktops and laptops
Uninterrupted power supply (i.e. batter backup units)
Keyboards, mouse and speakers
All type of wire
Gold clip ends
Printers, fax machines, scanners, modems, copy machines
All type of memory
Any hard drives
Fans and power supplies
Mother, B, C, Tweener and Finger Boards
AC Adaptors, yokes and motors
Plastic, tied in bundles (baled) or loose (i.e. computer shells, casings, etc.)
Aluminum, brass, light iron and copper
Metals, tied in bundles (baled) or loose
Any and all related computer parts
Phones, cell phones, pagers, cell phone and laptop batteries
PC scrap and stereos (NO WOOD)
VCR’s, DVD’s, CD players, boomboxes
Any audio and visual equipment
Cash Registers and scales (electronic or mechanical)
Rechargeable batteries
Household appliances not containing compressors
These items should be put curbside on the ground separate from your normal recycling (paper, cans, bottles, plastic jugs, etc). A separate truck will pick these items up on your regular trash day.

Prevention Code
Commissioners approved an ordinance on final reading that updates the borough’s fire prevention code to reflect state statutes and requirements already in place. Residents are reminded that an inspection is required prior to renting or selling a property. The fee is $25 – $50 if application is made less than five days in advance of the inspection.

Raffle Ordinance Approved
Commissioners approved on final reading an ordinance governing raffles in the borough. In addition to setting forth requirements, application guidelines and issuance procedures, the ordinance establishes a $25 application fee.

Animal Control Services
Commissioners approved the hiring of Independent Animal Control Services of Lindenwold to be the borough’s animal control officer through the end of the year.

Animal Shelter Services
Commissioners appointed The Animal Orphanage of Voorhees to provide housing services for stray domestic animals within the municipality through the end of the year.

Chipper Out in January
Residents are reminded that the borough’s chipper will be out in January to take care of Christmas trees.
