Municipal Elections

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013 the Municipal Election will be held. This election is held every four (4) years to fill the three (3) Commissioner positions.

For anyone interested in running for the position of Commissioner for the Borough of Haddonfield please visit www.haddonfieldnj.org. Packets containing documents for interested candidates are available from the Borough Clerk in Room 101 of Borough Hall during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm)  PETITIONS DUE MARCH 11 NO LATER THAN 4:00 PM

VEGETATIVE WASTE PICK-UP SCHEDULE:

Vegetative Waste is only picked up one week a month from December through March.  That pickup is the third full week of the month.

March– the week of the 18th—22nd

Chipper Truck—From January thru March, the chipper truck will only run on the first full trash week of the month, beginning on the first Monday of the month.

Partnership for Haddonfield Appointments

The Commissioners announced the following appointments to the Partnership for Haddonfield: Kathy Gold, District Management Corporation Category (ii) (to fill unexpired term of Deena Gersh); Jackie LaMaina-Russell, District Management Corporation Category (v) (to fill unexpired term of Gary Reses); D. Andrew Bertorelli, Jr., District Management Corporation Alternate I (to fill unexpired term of Jackie LaMaina-Russell) and Kathryn Simon, District Management Corporation Alternate II (to fill unexpired term of D. Andrew Bertorelli, Jr.).

Bid Authorizations

The following bids were authorized for receipt by the Borough: 

  • For the Haddonfield Board of Education – Stadium & Anniversary Field Improvements to be received on or before Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall.
  • For Asphalt Street Patching and Miscellaneous Concrete Replacement to be received on or before Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall.

General Capital Improvement Ordinance

The Commissioners introduced a general capital improvement ordinances which authorized funds for the 2013 Road Program which includes road reconstruction on Wilkens Ave, Allen Ave and Washington Ave from Mountwell to Park.  Funds were also authorized for the design of a Grove Street Project, the 2014 road program and additional funding to be used in conjunction with DOT Grant funds for Euclid Ave.  The ordinance funded $535,000 towards the various road programs.  An additional $600,000 in funding has been budgeted in the current fund budget for the 2013 road program.  Other projects authorized including $397,000 for the installation of a turf field on a borough-owned parcel adjacent to the Haddonfield Memorial High School Campus and $100,000 for improvements to the Borough Hall entrance.

Water/Sewer Utility Bond Ordinance

The Commissioners introduced a water/sewer utility bond ordinance which allocates funds for the2013 Utility Replacement Program which includes work on Wilkens Ave, Allen Ave, Washington from Mountwell to Park and utility work on Euclid Ave.  The Ordinance also allocates additional funds for road reconstruction for the Grove Street Phase III project, design costs for Grove Street as well as the design of the 2014 Road Program.

Request for Proposal – Historic Preservation Commission Consultant

The Commissioners authorized the Borough Clerk to advertise for the receipt of sealed bids for a  Historic Preservation Commission Consultant,  to be received on or before Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall.  The consultant will assist in a technical review of the Historic Preservation Ordinance.

Peddling and Soliciting Ordinance Change

The Commissioners amended the Peddling and Soliciting ordinance – shortening the hours of permissible peddling and soliciting by one hour. The hours, which were from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. are now 9 a.m. – 8p.m. effective immediately.

NEA’s Read Across America

The Commissioners enthusiastically endorse the National Education Association’s Read Across America initiative in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ 109thbirthday on March 2, 2013. Please take this month to engage in programs and activities to make our children the best readers they can be.

Women’s History Month

The Commissioners proclaimed March 2013 as Women’s History Month and ask the residents of our community to join them in celebrating the many, varied, unique and truly wonderful gifts of women.

Authorization to Approve Taxi Cab License

The Commissioners approve a 2013 Taxicab Owners License to Atlas Cab Company.

Girls’ Night Out

The Partnership for Haddonfield’s Marketing Committee will host their fun-filled, ladies’ night of shopping, wine, food and fun during its Girls’ Night Out! event on Thursday, March 21 from 5 – 9 p.m. in Downtown Haddonfield. Girls’ Night Out! kicks off the spring fashion season in Haddonfield with many of the town’s shops and boutiques offering in-store events, discounts and more. Stores will be offering 20% off select merchandise and is some cases, the entire store, for this event. Prior to March 21, all participants are encouraged to register for this event at www.ShopHaddonfieldNJ.com.

Residents are reminded to sign up to receive important e-mail notices, reminders, and alerts from the Borough.  This system can be used to alert those who are registered to impending deadlines (for the payment of taxes, pet license fee, etc.), and to public safety situations.
