VEGETATIVE WASTE PICK-UP SCHEDULE:
January— the week of the 21st—25th
February– the week of the 18th—22nd

Leaf season is now over, please place leaves in vegetative waste containers or brown recyclable bags and place them out the week of vegetative waste pick-up.

Christmas Trees
Trees will be picked up the third week of January with the vegetative waste pickup.

Chipper Truck:
From January thru March, the chipper truck will only run on the first full trash week of the month, beginning on the first Monday of the month.

SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION – January 22, 2013
The Haddonfield Board of Education’s Special Election is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22, 2013.  Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The polling places are as follows:

School District Site 1:Tatem School, Music Room (regularly Dist. 2 & 10)
School District Site 2:Middle School, Gymnasium (regularly Dist. 3 & 4)
School District Site 3:Elizabeth Haddon School, Art Room (regularly Dist. 6 & 7)
School District Site 4:Middle School, Gymnasium (regularly Dist. 1 & 5)
School District Site 5:Lutheran Church, Parish Hall (regularly Dist. 8 & 9)

Mayor’s State of the Borough Report
Mayor Tish Colombi will give her state of the Borough Report at the Lion’s Club annual Mayor’s Breakfast on Saturday, January 19 at 9:00 am at the Presbyterian Church.

Martin Luther King Day Commemoration 
The Mayor and Commissioners invite everyone to join them on Monday, January 21, from 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. for an Evening Procession & Short Program honoring the ideals of Dr. King and 300 Years of building a community in Haddonfield. Attendees will gather at Jersey Java, where a candlelight/flashlight procession will commence and proceed to Haddonfield Borough Hall. At 7:20 p.m. a Short program will be held on the steps of Borough Hall with remarks (local community leaders and clergy are invited) and choral selections (high school choir) honoring Dr. King. All are welcome to attend and to bring a candle or flashlight for the procession.

Cash Management Plan
The Borough of Haddonfield has adopted a “Cash Management Plan” for 2013 which will be utilized by the Borough of Haddonfield under which all available public funds pursuant to the plan will be deposited in interest bearing accounts

Retrospect Designated as Official Newspaper for Legal Notices
The Commissioners designated The Retrospect as the official weekly newspaper of the Borough of Haddonfield for the purpose of legal advertising in 2013. The Courier Post will continue to be designated as the alternate official newspaper for legal advertising.

Permit Insurance Coverage for Organizations
The Borough of Haddonfield is a participating member of the Camden County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund relative to General Liability and other coverage.  The Borough has asked the “FUND” to extend General Liability and non-owned Automobile Liability Coverage to the following entities:

  • Partnership for Haddonfield, Inc.
  • Haddonfield Celebrations Association
  • Haddonfield Cultural Events Commission
  • Haddonfield Farmer’s Market

Approved Court Appointments 
The Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Haddonfield, County appointments the following effective through December 2013: Dean J. Buono, Esq. as Prosecutor;         Charles Wigginton, Esq. as Public Defender and Jean Phillips, CMCA as Court Administrator    .

Bid Rejection – Reconstruction of Cedar Avenue, Farwood Road and Longwood Drive 
The Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Haddonfield rejected bids for the Reconstruction of Cedar Avenue, Farwood Road and Longwood Drive for the Borough of Haddonfield, as they were all over budget.

Martin Luther King Day of Service to the Jersey Shore
The Borough of Haddonfield, students and parents of HMHS and residents will participate in restoring a part of the Sandy-ravaged New Jersey shore –using discarded Christmas trees from Haddonfield residents. Public Works will be picking up Christmas trees during the next week throughout the Borough – targeting to collect 150 trees for this cause. On Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 21, Tucker Transportation will then haul the trees to the Jersey Shore, accompanied by approximately 30 chaperoned students from HMHS, who will help build “dunes” along Midway Beach in Seaside Park, using the Christmas trees and sand. This is a great educational and community service project for Haddonfield and our students, so be sure to curb your tree for this worthy project.

Love Is In the Air Downtown February 7-14
The Love is in the Air shopping will once again take place throughout our downtown shopping district. From February 7 through February 14, participating shops and restaurants will offer special and discounts; and shopping district-wide gift certificates will be discounted 10%. We invite you to join the fun and support our downtown business owners.

Don’t Miss Downtown’s In-Store Sidewalk Sale
Downtown Haddonfield’s In-Store Sidewalk Sale will take place from Thursday January 24 through Saturday, January 26 throughout our downtown shopping district. Participating shops will feature discounts, shopping district-wide gift certificates will be discounted 10% and you can shop in Rain, Sleet or Snow!

School Board Recognition Month                                                                                   
The Commissioners proclaimed January 2013 as School Board Recognition Month in tribute to the contributions of our of our local school board members, past and present. We appreciate their dedication to the academic, athletic and social achievements and to the well-being of the children of our community.

The New Jersey State Board of Education and the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Haddonfield encourage qualified New Jersey citizens to consider service on the Haddonfield Board of Education.
