Bancroft Meetings

A stakeholder meeting regarding the Bancroft redevelopment project have been set for the following dates:

Board of Education: March 22 at 6 p.m. in the high school library. The meeting is open to the public.

Also, there will be an open house at the high school library from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 26 for all residents.

Sewer Blockages

The borough reminds residents that, if your sewer is blocked, you should contact the borough’s Public Works Department prior to calling a plumber. The borough will check your line from the curb to the main at no cost. Public Works can be reached at 429-0183.

School Elections

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming school board election is April 6. The election will be held April 27. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Polling locations are:

District 1: Tatem School (music room) if you normally vote in Districts 2 or 10.

District 2: Middle School (gym) if you normally vote in Districts 3 or 4.

District 3: Elizabeth Haddon School (art room) if you normally vote in Districts 6 or 7.

District 4: Middle School (gym) if you normally vote in Districts 1 or 5.

District 5: Lutheran Church if you normally vote in Districts 8 or 9.

Rabies Clinic

The borough will conduct a free rabies clinic for cats and dogs owned by Haddonfield residents on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot behind borough hall.

Pothole Patrol

Residents and business owners are encouraged to report potholes by calling Public Works or sending an e-mail through the borough’s Web site. Visit the site and then click on the link for Public Works. The borough’s Web site is www.haddonfieldnj.org.

Conversation on Islam

The Haddonfield Human Relations Commission will host “Islam Explained” with guest speaker Zahida Rahman on Thursday, March 24 at Jersey Java, 140 North Haddon Ave., from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Rahman and her late husband, Zia Rahman, were instrumental in the establishment of a mosque in Voorhees several years ago. The road to building this mosque was chronicled in a documentary film, “Talking Through Walls.” Mrs. Rahman continues to promote understanding between people in diverse communities. She will present an informational session on Islam and the mosque, then join in a question and answer session. The event is free and open to the public.

Public Works Bids
Borough commissioners accepted the lowest, qualified bid of Luzon Inc. of Sewell for remediation services at the Public Works Facility. The bid was $396,711.

Tanner Street Project

Borough commissioners have authorized the advertising for bids for the Tanner Street Road Reconstruction Project. Bids are to be received on or before Thursday, April 7 at 10 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.

Auditor Services

Commissioners have authorized the advertisement for the receipt of proposals for auditor services for the borough. Bids are due on or before Thursday, March 31 at 3 p.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.

Recycling/Vegetative Waste Services

Borough commissioners have rejected all bids for recycling/vegetative waste services as all bids exceeded the budgeted amount. The borough will re-advertise for bids for the services. The bids are due on or before Thursday, March 31 at 10 a.m. in Room 102 of borough hall.

Commission Vacancy

The borough has a vacancy on its Environmental Commission. Anyone interested in the position may visit the borough’s Web site – www.haddonfieldnj.org, to fill out an application. Residents are reminded that the borough keeps an active list of individuals who want to serve on volunteer commissions and committees. Interested parties do not have to wait until a vacancy is announced to express their interest in serving. They can visit the borough’s Web site and fill out an application any time.
