Borough Budget Briefing April 17
Commissioner Kasko will host a community budget briefing on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall to review the 2013 borough budget that has been introduced.  The agenda includes a presentation, line-by-line review of municipal spending and a question-and-answer session.  All interested residents are invited to attend.

The Borough of Haddonfield invites you to a dinner in honor of Mayor Letitia G. Colombi saluting her 28 years of service as a Commissioner including 12 years as Mayor.

VEGETATIVE WASTE PICK-UP SCHEDULE:
Starting April 1st vegetative waste pick-up will once again be weekly.

Spring Clean-up begins April 1st through April 26th.  Leaves may be piled between the curb and the sidewalk without containers.  The chipper will run the 1st and 3rd week and the leaf machine will run the 2nd and 4th week of the month.

Municipal Budget Introduced
The Commissioners introduced the Municipal Budget for the 2013 year. The budget will be published in the April 5, 2013 issue of The Retrospect.

A public hearing on the Budget and Tax Resolution will be held at Borough Hall on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their input, thoughts and feedback on the budget.

Partnership for Haddonfield Budget Introduced
The Commissioners introduced the 2013 annual budget for the Partnership for Haddonfield, totaling $300,570. A public hearing on the budget will be held in  Room 102of Borough Hall on Tuesday April 23, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their input, thoughts and feedback on the budget.

Bid Authorizations
The following bids were authorized for receipt by the Borough:

  • Emergency Sewer Main Repairs to be received on or before Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Room 105 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall;
  • Emergency Main Water Repairs to be received on or before Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. Room 105 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall;
  • Water and Sewer Lateral Work to be received on or before Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall.

Chicken Runs at Midnight
The Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Haddonfield encourages citizens to take part in the Canuso Foundation’s Chicken Runs at Midnight on Saturday, May 4.

First Friday Events – 2013
The Commissioners authorized the Partnership for Haddonfield to continue to sponsor “First Friday” events in 2013 on the following Fridays: May 3, June 7, July 5, August 2, and September 6 of 2013 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Kings Highway.

The events will feature artists, vendors and entertainment for all ages.

Sustainable Jersey™ Green Team Name Change 
The Commissioner authorized the Haddonfield Green Team – Green Business Recognition Program to officially change its name from “Green Team” to “Sustainable Haddonfield” effective immediately.

Fair Campaign Pledge
The Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Haddonfield believe it is important to have election campaigns carried out in a positive manner focusing on issues, qualifications and candidates’ views; and wish to encourage this type of election campaign by publicly agreeing to the following Fair Campaign Pledge and asking all future candidates to make the same pledge:

FAIR CAMPAIGN PLEDGE
I pledge to conduct my campaign for public office openly and fairly, I will discuss the issues and participate in fair public debate with respect to my views and qualifications.

I will not engage in, nor permit defamatory attacks upon the character of my opponents; nor shall I engage in unwarranted invasions of personal privacy unrelated to campaign issues.  I shall not appeal to, and I shall condemn appeals to prejudice based upon race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, or political affiliation.  I will not permit the use of any campaign material or advertisement which misrepresents, distorts, or otherwise falsifies the facts regarding my record or that of any other candidate.

Specific Agreements
I will further agree to the following specific conditions:

  1. I will clearly identify (by name and address) the source of all advertisements and campaign literature published or distributed on my behalf.
  2. I will use individual endorsements only with the permission of the endorser.
  3. I will make available at the Haddonfield Library a copy of all campaign reports required by law.

In signing this pledge, I assume personal control and responsibility for the conduct of my campaign.

Bid Award
The following bid was awarded by the Borough:

  • Asphalt Street Patching and Miscellaneous Concrete Replacement for the Borough of Haddonfield to CurbCon, Inc. of Barnegat.

Surplus Property for Sale
The Borough of Haddonfield wishes to sell a surplus property that is no longer needed for public use. The State of New Jersey permits this sale, and interested parties need to bid for this property through an online auction at www.publicsurplus.com or in the Administration Office, Room 101 – Borough Hall, 242 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield.

Water Department Fire Hydrant Flushing Program
During the month of April  the Haddonfield Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants between 9:00 am. and 3:30 pm. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays. The following is the schedule and affected areas:

April 2, 3, 4, 5   The Area South of Kings Highway, West of the Patco High Speedline
April 9, 10, 11, 12 The Area North of Kings Highway, West of the Patco High Speedline
April 16, 17, 18, 19 The Area North of Kings Highway, East of the Patco High Speedline
April 23, 24, 25, 26 The Area South of Kings Highway, East of the Patco High Speedline

If you notice your water is discolored, leave a cold-water spigot running until its clear.  Avoid doing laundry until you’re sure the water is clear. For more information, contact the Haddonfield Water Department Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at 856-429-0183.

Ordinance to Preserve Cap Bank Introduced
The Commissioners introduced an ordinance that, in 2013 budget year, would increase the final budget appropriations to 3.5%, amounting to $150,313.31. Any amount authorized hereinabove that is not appropriated as part of the final budget would be retained as an exception to final appropriation in either of the next two succeeding years.

Water and Sewer Rates
The Commissioners introduced an ordinance that would fix and establish the rate for Borough water to be $5.00 per thousand gallons; and for sewer service to be $2.40her thousand gallons of water.
