VEGETATIVE WASTE PICK-UP SCHEDULE:

January— the week of the 20th—24th 

Christmas Trees—removal all ornaments, tinsel, lights, etc. Do not place in plastic bag. Pick up will be the first and third week in January.

Chipper Truck—From January thru March, the chipper truck will only run on the first full trash week of the month, beginning on the first Monday of the month.

Leaf Collection is over!

All leaves much be bagged or canned and placed out for vegetative waste pickup. Any leaves raked into the street after those dates will receive a summons to appear in municipal court for violation of the storm water regulations. Information on composting and mulching can be found on the Borough website as alternative to disposal of leaves.

SNOW RULES

With the upcoming snow please make arrangements to park your car either in a borough parking lot or private property overnight so that we may more easily plow the streets without plowing your vehicle in. Additionally, the Borough does not clear driveways that get blocked in the process of plowing the streets. Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks in front of their property.

  • 232-23. Temporary parking prohibition for snow plowing and removal.
  1. Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, an emergency shall exist and no vehicle shall be parked on the following streets or highways or portions therefrom indicated. The above parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.

Recreation Commission Formed

The Borough has created as a Recreation Commission to provide input and guidance to the Commissioner of Public Works, Parks and Property on issues related to recreational and athletic programs for the youth of the Borough of Haddonfield. The primary purpose of the Recreation Commission is the coordination and scheduling of athletic activities and events, including the use of Borough of Haddonfield fields and facilities and, when authorized, Board of Education fields and facilities. 

Renewal of Municipal Consent to Comcast of Garden State L.P.

The municipality of Haddonfield hereby grants to Comcast renewal of its non-exclusive Municipal Consent to place in, upon, across, above, over and under highways, streets, alleys, sidewalks, easements, public ways and public places in the municipality, poles, wires, cables, underground conduits, manholes and other television conductors, fixtures, apparatus and equipment as may be necessary for the construction, operation and maintenance in the Municipality of a cable television and communications system. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon issuance of a Renewal Certificate of Approval from the BPU.

Bid Request – Tree Removal Services

The Commissioners have authorized the Borough Clerk to advertise for the receipt of sealed bids for Tree Removal Services to be received on or before Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall.

Bids Awarded

The Commissioners have rewarded bids to the following:

  • Auditorium Sound & Audio Visual Equipment to AVT
  • Animal Control Services to Independent Animal Control Services

Extended Contract

The Commissioners authorized an extended contract to The Animal Orphanage for Animal Shelter Services through December 31, 2015.

Southern New Jersey Regional Employee Benefits Fund

The Commissioners have renewed Haddonfield’s membership in the Southern New Jersey Regional Employee Benefits Fund. The Commissioners appoint Neil P. Rochford to serve as Fund Commissioner and Sharon McCullough to serve as Alternate Fund Commissioner.

Auxiliary Police Appointments

The Commissioners have approved the following appointments to the Haddonfield Auxiliary Police appointment effective January 2 – December 31, 2015:

  • Frederick W. Chase, Timothy A. Chase, E. Guy Elzey, Jr., Steven F. Harski, Christine Schroeder, Jack Matty, Jr., Geoffrey Snelling, Kyle Erdner, Alan Koch, Eugene G. Haag and Peter J. Dobush to the Haddonfield Auxiliary Police;

Various Appointments

The Commissioners have also approved the following Municipal Court appointments:

  • Dean J. Buono, Esq. as Prosecutor which expires December 31, 2015.
  • Charles Wigginton, Esq. as Public Defender which expires December 31, 2015.
  • Jean Phillips, CMCA as Court Administrator which expires December 31, 2015.
  • Joseph P. Anton, Human Relations Commission which expires May 31, 2015.
  • Henry D. Bean and Sons, Inc. as its Risk Management Consultant.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Year-End Holiday Crackdown Grant

The Commissioners requests that the $7,500.00 the Division of Local Government Service received from the State of New Jersey be used for the 2014 Drive Sober or Get Pulled over Year End Holiday Crackdown Grant and not for additional revenue.

Performance Bond Release Authorization

The Commissioners have authorized a performance bond to be released for the following:

  • Euclid Pump Station Upgrades, Phase II – Municipal Maintenance Co.

Free Parking During Holiday Season in the Downtown

The Commissioners announced that free parking will be available to everyone visiting and shopping in the Downtown from Friday, November 28 (Black Friday) through Thursday, December 25, 2014 (Christmas Day).

There will be no parking on Kings Highway from Grove Street/Potter Street to the Port Authority Transit Corp. Bridge between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for the month of December.

First Night Haddonfield – Wednesday, December 31

Ring in 2015 during First Night Haddonfield, a family-friendly, alcohol-free evening of fun in Downtown Haddonfield on Wednesday, December 31 from 6 p.m. – midnight. First Night features a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration complete with live entertainment, fireworks, activities and fun for all ages. Other festivities taking place during the six-hour event includes comedy, magic, children’s entertainment, food and dancing. This year First Night Haddonfield plans to offer something for every member of the family to enjoy – with more than 40 performances in 20 different venues on Kings Highway. Parking regulations in the Borough normally prohibit parking on public streets from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.; however, during and after First Night activities residents and guests may park on the streets between midnight and 6 a.m. on January 1, 2015.

Haddonfield’s Rules for Parking

The Commissioners want to remind residents of the rules regarding parking your vehicles.

  • All cars parked in driveways must not block the public sidewalks.
  • If you must park on the street, please call the police department at 429-3000 and let them know you will be parking your car there overnight.

Haddonfield’s Rules for Dog Walking

The Commissioners want to remind residents of the rules regarding walking your dogs and disposing property of their waste:

  • All dogs must be on a leash when being walked on public streets; the Crows Woods Nature Preserve and in any park area; no pet is permitted to roam un-leashed in Haddonfield
  • Pet owners or anyone who takes their pet for walks must properly dispose of their pet’s waste by picking it up, wrapping it and either placing it in the trash or flushing it unwrapped down the toilet.
