Reporting Potholes
The weather this year has been especially hard on the roadways, and there will be a larger than normal number of potholes because of the conditions. The Borough of Haddonfield is beginning to accumulate a list so that we may go out to bid for filling these potholes as soon as weather permits. Please report potholes on the website by filling out the form here:

Water and Sewer Rate Ordinance Passed
The Commissioners have amended the water rates which are now to be charged to a customer who has water that is furnished to a property. It will be calculated from the meter reading or estimate used for billing beginning with the second quarter mailing as follows:

Tier 1 – $5.60 per thousand gallons up to 8,000 gallons per quarter
Tier 2 – $7.06 per thousand gallons between 8,001 and 40,000 gallons per quarter
Tier 3 – $7.84 per thousand gallons over 40,001 gallons per quarter

For calculation of consumption of water, meter usage will be combined on all households which have more than one meter, including garden meters.

The amended sewer rates for sewer service shall be per thousand gallons of water furnished and is to be charged to a property as calculated from the meter reading or estimate used for billing beginning with the second quarter mailing as follows:

Tier 1 – $2.69 per thousand gallons of water furnished up to 8,000 gal. per quarter
Tier 2 – $3.39 per thousand gal. of water furnished between 8,001 and 40,000 gal. per quarter
Tier 3 – $3.77 per thousand gal. of water furnished over 40,001 gallons per quarter

No sewer charge will be made for water furnished through a separate connection with the water main and/or other similar purposes that does not drain into the Borough’s sanitary sewers.

Vacancy on Historic Preservation Commission
The Borough is looking to fill a Class I vacancy on the Historic Preservation Commission. To qualify an applicant must prove that they are—A person who is knowledgeable in building design and construction or architectural history.

The Historic Preservation Commission Workshop
The Historic Preservation Commission will host Ms. Andrea Tingey from the NJ State Historic Preservation Office for “Historic Preservation 101”, a historic preservation workshop on Saturday, March 22 from 9 a.m.-noon. The workshop will be held in the 2nd floor Borough Hall auditorium. Ms. Tingey will cover basic preservation history and current preservation practices with an emphasis on how they relate to Haddonfield’s historic preservation goals. A short Q&A will follow the presentation. Please join us and learn more about historic preservation in Haddonfield. Shared Court Agreement with the Borough of Audubon
The borough has authorized an agreement for shared Municipal Court services with the Borough of Audubon effective January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016.

Re-Bid Request – Grove Street Utility Replacement Project
The Commissioners re-issued a bid request for the Grove Street Utility Replacement Project for receipt on or before Thursday, March 20 at 10:30 a.m. in room 103 of Haddonfield Borough Hall. The borough rejected all previous bid made for the Grove Street Utility Replacement as the lowest bid withdrew and the remaining bidders were over budget.

The borough has approved permits for the following events:

Haddonfield Little League, Little League Parade, March 29, 2014
Interfaith Caregivers, Touch-A-Truck, May 3, 2014
Elizabeth Haddon PTA, 5K Run/Walk, May 31, 2014 (originally scheduled for May 17th)

Municipal Affirms Civil Rights Policy
The borough has affirmed a policy to treat the public, employees, appointees, volunteers, and contractors in a manner that is consistent with all the applicable civil rights laws and regulations. No official, employee, appointee or volunteer shall engage in any act including the failure to act that constitutes discrimination, harassment or a violation of any person’s constitutional rights while such official, employee, appointee, volunteer, or entity is acting on the behalf of the Borough’s business or using facilities or property of the Borough. The Borough Administrator will establish written procedures for any person to report alleged discrimination, harassment and violations of civil rights prohibited by this resolution. The procedures shall include alternate ways to report a complaint without having to communicate with the alleged violator.
