LEAF COLLECTION HAS BEGUN!
Leaf pickup locations are posted to the Borough website each day. This is the best way to stay up-to-date on when the leaf truck will be on your street.

The Commissioners have also recently updated the Borough Ordinance governing the placement of yard waste to be as follows:

§ 195-9.1 Uncontainerized yard waste placement and timing.
Sweeping, raking, blowing or otherwise placing yard waste that is not containerized at the curb is only allowed during the seven days prior to a scheduled and announced collection, and shall not be placed closer than 10 feet from any storm drain inlet. Yard waste cannot be placed in the public street and/or public sidewalk and shall be place for pickup in a location as close to the public street as practicable. Placement of such yard waste at the curb or along the street at any other time or in any other manner is a violation of this article. If such placement of yard waste occurs, the party responsible for placement of the yard waste must remove the yard waste from the street or said party shall be deemed in violation of this article.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL COMMITTEE—MEMBERS STILL NEEDED FOR TATEM AND CENTRAL
The Commissioners are establishing a committee for each elementary school to review the routes and plan for the Safe Route to School. Residents interested in participating on the committee should email smccullough@haddonfield-nj.gov. The message should include which school you wish to participate with.

The committee will be made up of 7 residents, 2 of which can be residents that do not have children in the appropriate school. The remaining 5 will be parents with a child or children in the appropriate school. Additional members will include the Principal of the school, the Borough Administrator, the Chief of Police, and the Borough Engineer. Assistance with the process will be provided by Cross County Connection.

Members will be chosen on a first come-first serve basis. Members will be limited to one person from an individual street.

GROVE STREET TO REOPEN
Details on the paving of Grove Street can be found on the Borough website. The roadway will be paved in sections the week of November 16. Once striping has been completed the roadway will be reopen. This is anticipated to occur by Thanksgiving, weather permitting.

LAKEVIEW CONSTRUCTION
Concrete work is near completion. The roadway work has begun. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.

World War II Veterans Remembrance Month – November

The Commissioners recognize November 2015 in Haddonfield as World War II Veterans Remembrance Month, and ask all residents to express their gratitude to our World War II Veterans and their families for a lifetime of service and sacrifice.

FIRST NIGHT HADDONFIELD – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 31
Ring in 2016 during First Night Haddonfield, a family-friendly, alcohol-free evening of fun in Downtown Haddonfield on Thursday, December 31 from 5:30 p.m. – midnight. First Night features a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration complete with live entertainment, fireworks, activities and fun for all ages. Other festivities taking place during the six-and-a-half-hour event includes comedy, magic, children’s entertainment, food and dancing. This year First Night Haddonfield plans to offer something for every member of the family to enjoy – with more than 40 performances in 20 different venues on Kings Highway. NEW FIREFIGHTERS AND EXPLORERS
The Borough is proud to announce the appointment of three new volunteer members of the Haddon Fire Company No. 1; Jason Keesal, Steven Lyons and Erik Myles. The Haddon Fire Company No. 1 has a long and distinguished history since 1764 of volunteer community service protecting our town and surrounding areas. The Borough is also pleased to announce the appointment of three new Haddon Fire Company No. 1 Explorers; Nick DeNinno, Allie Shaw, and Ethan Titus. The Explorer program began in 2001 for Haddonfield youth aged 16-19. This program introduces young men and women to a career in firefighting by outfitting them in full gear, training by officers and responding to emergencies with the Fire Company. The Explorers provide invaluable service to Company by changing the air bottles, setting ground ladders and bringing tools to aid the firefighters, among other vital tasks. The Borough offers their congratulations and thanks to our new Fire Fighters Explorers.

The Commissioners have awarded the bid for “TREE REMOVAL SERVICES 2” to Friendly Tree Experts, Inc., 640 Tremont Avenue, Orange, New Jersey 07050, which was the lowest qualified bidder.

AUTHORIZATION TO SIGN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Borough Solicitor – Mario Iavicoli, Esq.
The Commissioners authorized signing a year-long agreement with Mario Iavicoli, Esq. for professional Borough Solicitor services under the terms of his original 2012 contract.

HADDONFIELD’S RULES FOR DOG WALKING
The Commissioners want to remind residents of the rules regarding walking your dogs and disposing property of their waste:

All dogs must be on a leash when being walked on public streets; the Crows Woods Nature Preserve and in any park area; no pet is permitted to roam un-leashed in Haddonfield

Pet owners or anyone who takes their pet for walks must properly dispose of their pet’s waste by picking it up, wrapping it and either placing it in the trash or flushing it unwrapped down the toilet.

SMALL BUSINESS WEEKEND FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27 – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29
As part of our commitment to making the holiday season in Haddonfield the best experience it can be, our downtown will once again extend its annual Small Business Saturday® celebration and sales event to three days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 27, 28 and 29.

The weekend is dedicated to supporting small businesses during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year. Haddonfield, NJ invites everyone to ‘shop small’ at their favorite Haddonfield shop or restaurant to take advantage of the many special offers and sales being offered – and help fuel the local economy.

Shoppers can also create their own sale, with town-wide gift certificates, which will be available at t a10% discount at the Haddonfield Information Center, located at 2 Kings Court, during the Center’s Small Business Weekend hours which are: Friday, November 27 from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Saturday, November 28 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Sunday, November 29 from noon – 5 p.m.; or online at downtownhaddonfield.com. HADDONFIELD’S SIGNATURE CANDLELIGHT SHOPPING FRIDAY EVENINGS NOVEMBER 27 – DECEMBER 18

Shoppers can enjoy a relaxing horse-drawn carriage ride through our historic downtown taking in all of the sights and sounds of the season. SHOP LATE, SHOP HADDONFIELD ON MIDNIGHT MONDAY DECEMBER 21
Downtown Haddonfield is leaving the lights on! On Monday, December 21, late night shoppers can explore downtown shops and boutiques until midnight during Haddonfield’s second annual ‘Midnight Monday’ shopping event.

Many downtown shops along Kings Highway and our charming side streets, which include Mechanic, Ellis, and Tanner Streets, Haddy Lane, Kings Court, and Haddon Avenue, will stay open until midnight during this special shopping event. Midnight Monday is perfect for the night owls and for those who might need to squeeze in a few more holiday shopping hours.

Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. during Midnight Monday, and music will fill the air at various locations throughout the Downtown, provided by DJ Frank Staff, the Camden Catholic High School Choir, and Three Good Men.

FREE PARKING DURING HOLIDAY SEASON IN THE DOWNTOWN
The Commissioners announced that free parking will be available to everyone visiting and shopping in the Downtown from Friday, November 27 (Black Friday) through Friday, December 25, 2015 (Christmas Day).

There will be no parking on Kings Highway from Grove Street/Potter Street to the Port Authority Transit Corp. Bridge between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for the month of December.
