ENERGY AGGREGATION PROGRAM—YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED!
On November 14th the Commissioners had a special meeting to outline a program that could potentially save residents money on their electric bills.  This meeting was videotaped by the Civic Association.  The Borough will be posting the link to the meeting on our website as soon as it is available.  We would encourage all residents to watch the video and contact one of the Commissioners so that you may express your interest or disinterest in the program.

Public Meeting to be held Saturday, November 23 at 10:00 AM in Borough Hall
A public meeting is scheduled to review proposed plans for road reconstruction and traffic calming for Grove Street.  Haddonfield has been working in conjunction with Camden County to design the project.  The County is hopeful that it will be able to obtain federal funding for the construction project in 2014.  At the meeting an explanation of the proposed plans will be provided.  The County and the Borough would like to receive public comment on the plans and any issues related to the project.

Participate in the Tricentennial Photo – Legacy Project
The Haddonfield Tricentennial Committee and Haddonfield Civic Association are asking all Haddonfield residents to submit a photograph of their families in front of their homes this holiday season, with the family in the foreground and the home in the background, to memorialize life in Haddonfield in 2013.  Digital and printed photographs will be collected for publication in a town-wide photo album, which will be donated to the Historical Society of Haddonfield’s archives for future generations to view and enjoy. More information about how to participate can be found at http://haddonfield300.org/photo-legacy-project/ .

First Night Buttons are available for the early sale price of $10 starting October 19 at http://www.firstnighthaddonfield.org/.

Leaf Collection is in full swing
The first pass through the full town has been completed.  The crews are currently working on the second pass through.  Please check the Borough website each day to determine which trash route the crews are working in.  DO NOT RAKE LEAVES INTO GUTTER OR STREETS.  Leaves in the street do not comply with storm water regulations.  It also can lead to blocked inlets and cause flooding.

Leaf collection ends the week of December 9-13.  After that date all leaves much be bagged or canned and placed out for vegetative waste pickup.  Any leaves raked into the street after those dates will receive a summons to appear in municipal court for violation of the storm water regulations.  Information on composting and mulching can be found on the Borough website as alternative to disposal of leaves.

November—the week of the 18th –22nd
December—the week of the 16th—20st

Tricentennial Trees
The Haddonfield Shade Tree Commission recently added 100 new trees to Haddonfield’s shade tree canopy – in celebration of the borough’s Tricentennial milestone Planted by volunteers and local Landscape Partners along streets and in gardens throughout the Borough, these new trees can be seen sporting green watering bags, which will be filled regularly this fall and next spring and summer by still more volunteers.

State Tree Planting Grant
The Borough of Haddonfield was recently awarded a $20,000 tree planting grant by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s State Forestry Service under the Community Stewardship Incentive Program.  One of only 26 New Jersey municipalities to receive this award, Haddonfield received the maximum amount allowable.

The grant will be used to restart the Borough’s annual tree planting program, which was suspended in 2012 and 2013 as available funds were channeled to taking down the large number of trees now dying from Bacterial Leaf Scorch and other causes.

The goal is to plant at least 70 trees in spring 2014 with these grant funds, primarily along the main thoroughfares in Haddonfield and in heavily paved areas such as the public parking lots.  The grant will cover all planting costs including the trees themselves, the labor to plant and water the trees and any ancillary costs such as remediation soil, mulch and watering bags.  The Borough is expected to match 50% of the grant funding, with one-third of that match met through volunteer management and support by Shade Tree Commission members and other community volunteers.

Authorization to Reject Tree Removal Services Bid
The Commissioners have rejected all bids for Tree Removal Services for being over budget.
