Leaf Pickup Ending Soon
Leaf pickup ends the week of Dec. 6. Be sure that all of your leaves are in the strip between the curb and sidewalk on your trash day of that week, as there will be no additional collections after that day.
After the final pickup, under state and local laws, the borough will have to sign complaints against property owners where leaves remain in the street or within 10 feet of a storm sewer inlet.

Electronics Waste Pickup
Beginning Jan. 3, the borough will pick up electronics waste, such as computers, monitors, TVs (no consoles) and more for recycling. Do not put these items in the blue buckets. They should be separated from other trash and recyclables and be put curbside on the ground on your regular trash day.
More information, including a list of items eligible to be picked up for recycling, will be available on the borough’s Web site at www.haddonfieldnj.org.

Capital Projects Updates
Utility work on Tanner Street is moving along, with about two more weeks of work remaining. Work now will focus primarily near the intersection of Tanner and Euclid, with some work near Kings Highway. Commissioners thank residents and business owners for their patience and remind them that street restoration, curbing and streetscaping are set for the spring.
Water main work on Woodland Avenue has been finished, and the only work that remains is the storm sewer, from Estaugh to Linden. PSE&G has determined that part of the gas main will be replaced, from Estaugh toward Linden – a minimum of 150 to 200 feet. Concrete work is expected to begin this week near Avondale.
Centre Street work was finished recently. In addition to the two blocks awarded in the contract, the borough also was able to repair a section of the road near the swim club.

Fourth Quarter Taxes
If you haven’t paid yet, your fourth quarter taxes are now delinquent. The borough collects taxes not only for itself, but also for the school district and county. By law, it has to pay the school district and county 100 percent of the funds those entities are entitled to receive, even if tax collections fall short. Shortfalls are made up through a reserve for uncollected taxes fund. Given budget restraints, including a tax cap, any shortfalls in tax collections will require an increase in this appropriation. This increase may have to be made up through reductions in borough services.
