RUSTY WATER?
If you have experienced discolored, or rusty, water within the last 24 hours you are not alone. A water pipe broke in the Centre Street plant which caused the Water Dept. to shut down the plant for repairs. Discolored, or rusty, water was the result for many residents once a temporary repair was put in place and the plant was started back up.

IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED THE DISCOLORED WATER, PLEASE LET YOUR COLD WATER TAPS RUN UNTIL THE WATER IS CLEAR.

Please note that the repair made to the Centre Street plant is only temporary. Due to a pump issue at our Lake Street facility the Centre Street plant is necessary in maintaining the Borough’s ability to supply water for the town. The repaired pump for Lake Street facility is due back early next week. Once that facility is back in operation, permanent repairs will be made to the Centre Street plant.

Please direct your questions to the Water Department at 429-0183.

LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE UPDATE
Leaf collection will begin during the first two weeks of November, during which Public Works will make collection round throughout the Borough. Due to budgetary constraints, there will only be two additional collections – these will occur between Monday, November 14 and Friday, December 9. Here is the schedule, based on your trash route:

Monday’s trash route – Oct 31, Nov 14 and Nov 28
Tuesday’s trash route – Nov 2, Nov 16 and Nov 30
Wednesday’s trash route – Nov 4, Nov 18 and Dec 2
Thursday’s trash route – Nov 7, Nov 21 and Dec 5
Friday’s trash route – Nov 9, Nov 23 and Dec 7

We anticipate taking two days to collect all leaves in each trash route. Some pick-ups may be slightly delayed, but will not come in advance of the schedule.

After the leaf trucks have completed their 3 passes, all leaves must be placed in recyclable paper bags or in cans marked for vegetative waste. Vegetative waste will be picked up the third full week of each month from November through March.

The Chipper will not be out for the month of November and December. It will resume its normal schedule (the first week of each month) in January.
