Historic District Ordinance Revisions
A special meeting to discuss proposed revisions for the historic district ordinance has been set for the Planning, Zoning, and HPC boards.  It will be held September 19 beginning at 7:00 pm in the auditorium of Borough Hall.  A copy of the proposed revisions is available on the Borough website.

Community Clean-Up Day – Saturday, September 29, 2013 – 9am to 12pm
All Haddonfield community organizations, schools, churches, neighborhood groups, families and individuals are invited to help keep Haddonfield litter-free by pick up trash and recyclables from parks, parking lots, walkways, sidewalks and other public places.  To sign up please send 3 preferred clean-up locations to sustainablehaddonfield@gmail.com or call Julie at 856-795-2272.  If you do not have a clean-up location in mind, we would be glad to give you some ideas.  Trash bags and recycling bins will be provided.  Participants should provide their own gloves, rakes, etc., as required.  Following the clean-up, participants are invited to attend the potluck family picnic and festival at Cooper River at 12:30pm as part of the Cooper River Fest “Connecting Cooper Communities.”

  • Haddonfield residents, retailers & professionals only.
  • Personal papers.  Confidential papers.  Documents with personal account information.
  • Paper clips, staples & rubber bands are ok.

Euclid Ave will have restricted access during September due to the replacement of utilities and road reconstruction.  Please plan your travel routes accordingly.

Bike Auction
The borough will  hold a public auction for property in the borough’s possession on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Public Works facilities, 555 Centre Street, Haddonfield, NJ  08033, with a preview from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

School is in – Drive Safely!
With school newly in session, please be aware that pedestrian traffic throughout the town has increased considerably. Drivers are asked to be aware of the changed conditions and drive carefully and observe the speed limit – 25 miles per hour – throughout the town.

Idle Free Zones
The Commissioners have adopted “Idle Free Zones” throughout Haddonfield including at schools, businesses, government facilities and other locations where drivers are to turn off their vehicle if they plan to idle for more than 30 seconds.

Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month
The Commissioners have declared September Pediatric Cancer Awareness and call on  the community, parents, government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses, and schools in Haddonfield to participate in Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month activities; to become more informed about pediatric cancer to better serve the children and support the families who afflicted with this disease.

Library Architectural Company Assigned
The Commissioners have authorized Arcari & Iovino Architects, PC to provide architectural services for work to be done at the Haddonfield Public Library building.

Approved Appointments 
The Commissioners have approved the following appointments:

  • L. Bert Cossaboon appointed to the Environmental Commission which expires May 31, 2015;
  • Thomas Vecchio appointed to the Environmental Commission, Alt. I which expires May 31, 2014;
  • Tyler Prime appointed to the Environmental Commission, Alt. II which expires May 31, 2014;

Bid Requests
The commissioners are requesting bids for the following:

  • “Temporary Labor Services” to be received on or before Thursday, October 3 at 10 a.m. in Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall;
  • “Hardscape Improvements to Borough Hall” to be received on or before Thursday, October 3 at 10 a.m. in Room 103 of the Haddonfield Borough Hall.

Bid Awards
A bid has been awarded to GWP Enterprises, Inc. for Curb and Crosswalk Painting Services. This year the crosswalks selected will be installed using thermoplastic.  It is anticipated that the crosswalks will be visible for a longer period of time using this material.

Authorization to Sign Agreements
The Commissioners have authorized the Borough of Haddonfield to sign an agreement with Concord Engineering for their energy auditing services.

Authorization to Renew Membership
The Commissioners have authorized the borough to renew its membership in the Camden County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund.

Antique Auto Show
The Ankokas Antique Auto Club will host an Antique Auto Show on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Kings Highway with a rain date of Saturday, September 28. The Highway from Haddon Avenue to PATCO will closed from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. Retailers within the business district will  display merchandise outdoors from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. Food purveyors will also be set up to display and sell food on the sidewalks out front of their eateries.

Certificate of Appreciation
Joseph J. Poliafico, an eight-year Haddonfield resident, received a certificate of appreciation from the Commissioners for his quick and decisive action in reporting a house fire to the Fire Department.

Hydrant Flushing
During the month of October 2013 the Haddonfield Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays. The following is the flushing schedule:

October 1-4 – The area South of Kings Highway, West of the Patco High Speedline
October 8-11 – The Area North of Kings Highway, West of the Patco High Speedline
October 15-18 – The Area North of Kings Highway, East of the Patco High Speedline
October 22-25 – The Area South of Kings Highway, East of the Patco High Speedline

If you notice your water is discolored leave a cold-water spigot running until it’s clear.  Avoid doing laundry until you’re sure the water is clear. For more information, contact the Haddonfield Water Department Monday-Friday 7 a.m. – 3:30 pm. – 856-429-0183

Mayor Jeff Kasko will be available for questions and comments every other Wednesday afternoon, starting on September 4 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. in Borough Hall. His September schedule will be Wednesday, September 4 and Wednesday, September 18 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Haddonfield’s Rules for Dog Walking
The Commissioners want to remind residents of the rules regarding walking your dogs and disposing property of their waste:

  • All dogs must be on a leash when being walked on public streets; no pet is permitted to roam un-leashed in Haddonfield
  • Pet owners or anyone who takes their pet for walks must properly dispose of their pet’s waste by picking it up, wrapping it and either placing it in the trash or flushing it unwrapped down the toilet.

Residents are reminded to sign up to receive important e-mail notices, reminders and alerts from the Borough.  This system can be used to alert those who are registered to impending deadlines (for the payment of taxes, pet license fee, etc.), and to public safety situations.
