Recycling Tonnage Grant
The Borough has received a recycling tonnage grant in the amount of $19,639.48 to be utilized by the Borough of Haddonfield to supplement recycling programs. The Borough uses some of the funds to supplement the cost for purchased recycling containers that are in turn available to residents for purchase at Public Works and the Information Center. The revenue will also be used to fund the borough’s annual Paper Shredding event, and any related needs that arrive during the course of the year.

POW/MIA Recognition Day:
On Friday, September 16, 2011, the United States flag was displayed throughout the center of Haddonfield in recognition of those American Prisoners of War and Missing in Action as Haddonfield’s part in a nationwide effort to remind all Americans of the significance of this day.

Haddonfield Shreds
Bring your outdated personal and confidential papers to One Centennial Square on Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m. – noon for our FREE bi-annual paper shredding event. Documents containing bank account information, social security numbers, drivers license numbers and any other personal information should be shredded. Paper clips and rubberbanded documents are acceptable as well.

Water Bills – New Due Dates
Due to a computer glitch that caused the borough to correct and reissue water bills, the due date for these bills has been moved from September 30 to October 7. The August 31, 2011 third quarter water/sewer utility bills mailed to residents listed only the sewer charges and were to be disregarded.second billing for these accounts was then sent Sept 6th which contained the correct water and sewer utility charges. All residents may also view the correct balance online and/or pay their bill at https://ssl.haddonfieldnj.org/.

It is in times like during the threat of Hurricane Irene when we realize what extraordinaryand personnel we really have in our town. Happily, the hit from the storm was not as great as feared, but knowing you were there and readyit much easier to ride it out. While most in Haddonfield were sleeping, you left your families to be on duty to make sure that we would be safe. You were well trained, fully prepared and ready for whatever was coming. All of the officials of the Borough of Haddonfield want to express our appreciation for your professionalism and dedication. Bancroft Redevelopment
The Borough requested its redevelopment counsel, Ed McManimon, to undertake an analysis of the costs and tax impact involved in acquiring the Bancroft Site and developing it for active and passive open space and recreation.memo will be available on the borough website and will be presented at the Commissioner’s meeting on September 27th.It is not intended as a proposal by the Borough, nor has it been in any way committed to by the Borough’s Commissioners.The intent is to provide certain assumptions as to costs so that a real evaluation of pursing this option can be considered; and any changes to the assumptions can be considered by analyzing the tax impact of such changes

Fall Tree Removal Services
The Commission authorized the borough clerk to advertise for the receipt of sealed bids for “Tree Removal Services”. The sealed bids are due to Borough hall on or before September 15 at 10:15 a.m. in Room 102.

Bicycle Auction
The Borough will be auctioning off 24 bicycles to the lowest bidder via public auction on Saturday, October 8th at 10a.m. at the Borough’s Public Works Facilities, 555 Centre Street. Please feel free to come early to preview the selection.

Contract Awards
The Commission has awarded the following contracts:

The Water Main Extension – project at Cedar Avenue, Farwood Road and Longwood Drive was awarded to PACT Construction, 554 Route 31, Ringoes, NJ 08851—who were determined to be the lowest qualified bidder.

The Grove Street Sanitary Sewer Extension Project – Phase II was awarded to PACT Construction, Inc. A new sanitary sewer main will be installed along Cedar Avenue and Grove Street.

The 2011 Road Program was awarded to Paramount Enterprises, Inc., PO Box Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 as the lowest qualified bidder.

Bids Requested:
October 6, 2011 at 10:00 am is the due date for bids for Temporary Labor Services. Bids must be received in room 102 on or before 10:00 am on that date.

Items for sale:
The Commissioners have authorized the sale by auction of twelve (12) Welsbach Lighting units. This auction will take place at www.publicsurplus.com.

Municipal Alliance Grant
The Commission has approved the application for the annual Municipal Alliance Grant. The mission of the Alliance is to promote a culture of wellness in Haddonfield by sponsoring and supporting activities and events that promote healthy behaviors, foster enlightened attitudes, warn of the perils of addiction, and condemn irresponsibleFor more information about the Municipal Alliance visit http://www.haddonfieldnj.org/borough_boards-alliance-mission.phpwhere you can also “Like” them on Facebook.

The Alliance presently has openings on their committee. If you would like to apply, please register at the borough’s website: haddonfieldnj.org. Annual Fall Festival
The Commissioners encourage all residents to participate in our annual Fall Festival, Saturday, October 15, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Rain date: Sunday, October 16 from noon -5 p.m.). More than 40 community organizations are expected to participate with displays along Kings Highway’s sidewalks between Haddon Avenue and the Speed Line, as well as in Kings Court. Registration is $35 and can be submitted to the Haddonfield Information Center.

The Partnership for Haddonfield will also sponsor a Crafts Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tanner Street, with more than 70 exhibitors.

Hydrant Flushing
During the month of October 2011 the Haddonfield Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants between 9:00 am. and 3:30 pm. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.
