Flag Day Ceremony - June 14th
In 1949, Congress designated June 14 of each year as National Flag Day, a day on which to honor and celebrate our nation’s flag. In 1982, that National Flag Day Foundation was chartered to conduct educational programs in relation to the flag and to encourage all Americans to “Pause for the pledge of Allegiance” on Flag Day.
The Borough has embraced this observance in the past, and we will do so again this year, on Tuesday, June 14, in King’s Court. The Pickup Band will play starting at 6:00 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. those in attendance will be asked to pause and join in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. And at 6:20 p.m. kindergarten students from the public schools will sing a number of patriotic songs.
The Mayor and Commissioners invite all who live and work in Haddonfield to fly flags at their homes and places of work on June 14 and join them in King’s Court to honor and celebrate our nation’s most revered symbol of freedom and democracy.
